Friday March 26th: The Party for Alix: Alix for the Party
March 26, 2010
6:00 pmto9:00 pm

Alix Rosenthal is running for the DCCC: the Democratic County Central Committee of San Francisco. On June 8, Alix will be on the ballot in order to change the Democratic Party, to make it more relevant, more sane, more, um, female. Come to her kickoff event!

According to the San Francisco Bay Guardian, 29% of San Francisco voters identify as decline-to-state – this is the highest percentage of any county in California. It’s time to restore the standing of the Democratic Party in the eyes of progressive voters. And only 3 out of the 12 seats on the DCCC in this district are held by women! What’s up with that?? The DCCC should look more like the voters it represents.

Come hear why Alix is the right person to take on the Democratic Party establishment! And learn more about the importance of the upcoming elections! And be entertained some of San Francisco’s best DJs! Including:

DingDong (Brass Tax)
Tamo (Angels of bAss, Space Cowboys)
MACE (Brass Tax)
ShOOey (Space Cowboys)

Please come!

Kenny Larkin is one of the chief innovators of Detroit’s so called ’second wave’ of techno producers from Detroit. He began his music career in 1990. After relocating to San Francisco in 2001 he realized that techno was just about a dead art on the West Coast, and started to get more into house music, or as people so often call it, he became “San Francsicanized”.

After getting burned out on the music and the scene and taking a brief break from it all, Craig turned to what was happening in Europe and, more specifically, Germany for inspiration. As he puts it, “I realized that with minimal techno and house I could play with the sounds that I loved and was used to with traditional techno but with the swing and groove of house, which ultimately appeals to the older and more mature crowds.” Now, with a renewed fervor and a fresh style, Craig has dove back into the world of DJing and promotion along with the rest of the Kontrol crew, and is once again turning other people on to the music he loves.

There’s a mural by my work I pass everyday that is visually astounding. It’s a super burner- a big, looping maze of letters, or maybe just design, that must represent in its whorls every color of the rainbow. It takes up the street side of a long building on a background of black-on-black fluer de lis design at Turk and Mason. Not to trivialize the sweet and sour roughness of ‘Loin life, but it gives the dope heads, the police cruisers and the general down-and-outery…
